Come delve into the magical world of Cat Clemons! Music, guitars, and all that is beautiful in the world.

A fun stop at Musicmakers up in Austin!

1. 60’s Mustang. These little guys are always a bunch of fun and the perfectly checked Dakota Red finish on this one knocked me out.

2. A couple of 1 watt Marshalls. I want one of these baaaaaad.

3. One of the new Fender Pawn Shop Series Super Sonics. I’m a big fan of the new Pawn Shop series. The new Bass VI’s look especially cool.

4. Wall O’ Guitars with a cool Johnny A signature Gibson up top.

5. Fun little Fender electric Mando. $$$

Some amp porn from Guitar Resurrction!

1. A ‘71 Marshall Super Lead, great fer scarin’ off pesky neighbors, friends, or family.

2. An assortment of Badcats. I haven’t really played enough of these to form a solid opinion on them yet. They’re purdy doe.

3. Bogner, Blankenship, Three Monkeys and more! This place really has an amazing selection of gear. $$$

This ugly little guitar is the real deal folks! It’s a Teuffel Tesla and I’ve always wanted to play one. Finally got my chance at Guitar Resurrection the other day! Truly an amazing guitar, it felt perfect in my hands. If you get a chance to check out a Teuffel, do it! You will not be disappointed. $$$

Pawn Shop Adventures! A couple of standouts from one of my favorite pawn shops in Austin. I love pawn shops because you never know what kind of deals you’re gonna find.

1. Wall O’ Pedals!

2. A Menatone King of the Britains. I wanted to check this out because I heard Johnny Marr uses one and I absolutely love his playing. It was pretty sweet, nice and crunchy!

3. A custom shop Orange Retro 50. Pawn shops in Texas have some pretty sweet gear.

4. A Z Vex Johnny Octave. I LOVED this pedal! I would have bought it on the spot if I had the money. The only bad thing about Octavias is that you can really only use them once or twice a night and that’s it. Those one or two times sure are satisfying doe….$$$

These pictures are from a recent trip to Hill Country Guitars. I rarely go to this place because they deal in all high end guitars and they’re all AMAZING! (And I’m broke…)

1. A wall of Collings acoustics. I really need to invest in a Collings dreadnought because they sound sooooo good!

2. Some Collings electrics. As you can tell, I’ve got a bit of a thing for Collings guitars. :)

3. Alright, so I’ve got a weird relationship with Matchless amps. I have a ton of friends who absolutely love them, but I really just can’t stand them. EXCEPT, for this guy here! I was really impressed with this amp, I think it was called a Club Master or something like that. Sounded killer!

4. Checking out a Collings arch top with a single floating mini humbucker. I’m actually not that big of a fan of floating pickups, but this guitar sounded good.

5. This guitar was one of the highlights of the trip. It was a (surprise!) Collings parlor sized 12 String! It sounded HUGE!!! It was really the perfect 12 string sound. I need me one of these…$$$

Posting some pictures of my own ‘65 Princeton for my buddy DeeBeeUs! This is one of my favorite amps, I can see why it’s one of his dream amps! $$$

Amps Galore!!! Some pieces that caught my eye recently.

1. I believe this little guy was called a Swart Space Tone and it was something like 5 watts. Seems pretty slick for recording.

2. One of my favorite of the many diabolical inventions of Leo Fender, the Princeton Reverb! This one was a 64 I believe.

3. A Gretsch Super Bass that looks suspiciously similar to a Supro Thunderbolt! They were both made by Valco so I have my suspicions that they may in fact be the same amp!

4. A Paul Reed Smith amplifier with some fancy trimmin’s. There seemed to be a huge buzz about these when they first came out and then it died out pretty quickly, leading me to believe that their sound may be lacking…$$$

The results of my visit to South Austin Music and Austin Vintage!

1. Cool old 50’s Gold Top Les Paul flanked by some awesome Teles and a Duo Jet above it!

2. An amazing old bronze-ish gold Harmony Stratotone! I’ve got a soft spot for these little guys. Vibey, weird guitars will always have a place in my heart!

3. Killer green Duo Jet at South Austin Music. I love those Dynasonic pickups, they sound like a million bucks!

4. Cool Candy Apple Red Jaguar. I’m more of a Jazzmaster guy, but I can still dig a good Jag. $$$

Cool old National! First time I’ve ever seen one of these stripped down. I think it looks purdy classy. $$$

I went to go see The Jazz Pharaohs the other night and ended up sitting in. I didn’t have a guitar with me, so my friend Dave Biller let me use his Collings that was custom made for him. It was AMAZING! One of the most incredible guitars I’ve ever played. $$$
